		<description>Chuck

Eggshells are calcium based hence they will only help reduce the acidic levels in the worm bin and will NOT reduce but rather add to the alkaline levels if way too much is used.

Chicken mash, especially starter feed which locally runs 20% can be too much for the worms if a lot is used. Remember, worms are protein sensitive, hence when using chicken mash go light with the usage and not at every feeding.

Using chicken feed in conjunction with &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.ORDERWORMS.COM/Purina-Worm-Chow_c9.htm?sourceCode=WCB&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;Purina Worm Chow&lt;/a&gt; is OK but very light as an added every once in a while. The Worm Chow already contains 12% protein so in reality the chicken feed is not really needed when using the Purina.

		<description>Bruce,

Can eggshells correct the PH to neutral from either PH side?
Also, you said to lay off the chicken mash? The recipe the local worm farmer gave me calls for chicken mash which i had originally planned to feed to all three of my worms or four now that I have the Alabama&#039;s along with the Purina worm chow. I guess that might not be a good idea then?

Thanks, chuck in oklahoma</description>
